Blick builds a periodic cache of the clip states in the timeline, the info is stored as an array of compact clip information about begin and end timestamps and is packed in arrays of tracks, sorted by time to optimize for binary search. This gets invalidated only on changes.
Besides that on high zoom it uses banding to reduce overdraw.
