New Blick update is out! with a full-fledged keyframe curve editor. Bezier handles, easing presets, a curve per axis, and dope sheet, curve or combined views.

Blick Beta Version 0.3.0: Patch Notes

New Features:

  • Keyframe curve editor:
    • edit keyframe animation as bezier curves. The keyframe section switches between three views, Dope sheet, Curve editor, and Both. Drag the tangent handles on a keyframe to shape the curve.
    • Keyframe presets: Linear, Hold, Ease in, Ease out, Easy ease, and Swish, from the keyframe right click menu. Editing a keyframe's handles by hand marks it Custom (Bezier).
    • A field with several components, such as Position or Scale, keeps a separate curve for each axis. You can couple or decouple a field's components from the lane right click menu.
    • Curve editing tools: add a point by holding Shift and clicking a curve, remove one with Alt and click, box select points and scale them with a transform box, and Fit view to frame the curves.
  • Text fields are now keyframeable: size, color, box width and height, and line, word, and character spacing, in addition to the outline.
  • Audio recording:
    • record from an input device onto the selected audio track, starting at the playhead. Start it with the record button in the timeline controls, or actions, and stop with Stop or Space.
    • Each take is saved as a WAV file in a Recordings folder next to the project and placed on the track as a clip. A level meter shows on the track while recording.
    • You can select audio playback and recording device in the settings
  • Selection follows playhead: set it in Settings > Timeline to All tracks or Track cursor only, selects the clips under the playhead as you scrub, play, or step with the keyboard.

Improvements:

  • Drag the volume line on an audio clip up or down. Without keyframes it sets the clip volume. With keyframes it moves the two keyframes around the dragged stretch together, and the stretch under the cursor is highlighted. The line snaps to the default volume.
  • New UI design for the effect panel and sidebar in the timeline, with dynamic resizing of the contents.
  • New command palette design
  • You can now search for settings and modify them directly in the command palette.
  • Collapsible timeline sidebar buttons.
  • Separate zoom step settings for the mouse and the keyboard, and a mouse scroll step, in Settings > Timeline.
  • Reset the monitor zoom from the monitor right click menu, or with the Reset monitor zoom action.
  • Escape now deselects everything, and the shortcut is remappable.
  • Left click on the timeline body no longer deselects.
  • Larger trim handles.
  • scroll over a focused value field to change its value.
  • Audio keyframes are no longer quantized to frames.
  • Effect sliders: dragging changes the value from where it is relatively, with Ctrl for finer control. Drag the edge of the slider fill to set a value directly.
  • Hovering a trim handle shows the matching trim handles on the linked clips.
  • Playback starts, and resumes after a seek, once the next frames are decoded.
  • Audio resyncs to the picture when it drifts more than 40 ms at 1x speed.
  • Ripple trim start to playhead now keeps the playhead on the same frame of the clip.
  • The Load autosave menu lists the newest autosaves and projects first.
